Merseyside Coatings has been successful in its assessment for ISO 9001:2000. Since 1991 MCL has managed a Quality System based on the old ISO 9002:1994 guidlines and so has made the transition to the new standard with flying colours. The company's directors firmly believe that this new certification will improve business performance, and this will have a positive effect on the services we provide as well as in market share, sales growth, sales margins, and competitive advantage.
MCL is delighted to announce that Merseyside Coatings LLC, the UAE arm of the company, has been formed and hopes to begin trading in the coming months. The company believe that there is a huge amount of work available to the company in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, as well as further afield in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Managing Director, Mike Young said, "We are abviously excited about the future of MCL in the Middle East, if not a little daunted by the prospect, however we firmly believe that we have the expertise and the correct work ethic to make it a success, and we are all looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead." MCL's site management team are aware of the prestigious nature of the contract and believe that working closely with the clients will ensure that MCL will become a recognised name in Ireland and hope that it will lead to further opportunities to carry out further work for Irish clientele. Work is set to begin on site on Monday 8th September.
The final section of the tallest piece of freestanding public art in the UK has been put into place. Aspire, a 197ft (60m) steel tube, stands over the University of Nottingham's Jubilee campus. The sculpture is thought to be three times the height of the Angel of the North and 8m (26ft) taller than Nelson's Column. Constructed at Watson Steel Structures in Bolton, it was then transported to Widnes, Cheshire, where MCL have applied the unusual paint system to the sections. The designers wanted a very dark, deep red colour at the base of the structure, which gradually faded up to a bright orange colour at the top. The Aspire sculpture is designed to represent a limitless ambition brought about by commitment to education and MCL are delighted to be involved in such a worthwhile project.
E.ON UK have today placed a £1.8m order with Merseyside Coatings Ltd for the 2nd and 3rd phases of the refurbishment project to the Energy Company's Coal Unloading Terminal in Liverpool's docklands area. Having completed the 1st phase of the project in December 2007, work can now continue on the site, which requires extensive wet-blasting, high-pressure waterjetting and protective coating application to over 3000 square metres of steelwork. This on-site only contract is a prestigious coup for MCL, who wish to expand further into the on-site refurbishment area of the industry. Having recently gained Link-Up registration with Achilles for Network Rail contracts, the future looks bright for the company.
